The K2 Superstitous Womens Skis are the best choice of expert-level women who charge the entire mountain and aren’t spooked by a blessing of new snow from mother nature. Sporting All-Terrain Rocker on the widest SuperModel Chassis, the Superstitious provides top-notch performance in soft snow, both on and off-trail.
Every Ski in the 2011/12 K2 collection combines tried and tested construction methods with a host of innovative features designed to maximize performance in any snow condition. K2’s Skis falls into a number of different categories;
The K2 Womens SuperModel series are similar to the Mens A.M.P. series; however these skis are designed specifically for women, by women. With thinner steel edges, leaner strips of Titanal and lighter weight bindings as well as the usual K2 features of Bioflex cores, Women’s Specfic Mod Structure and new for this year; forward shifted Sidecuts these skis are specifically engineered to match the unique requirements of the modern skier.
FEATURES
Core: All of the k2 women’s skis use a combination of Aspen, Paulownia and Bamboo in a unique core known as BioFlex, a process where a dense Aspen core underfoot is fused with lightweight paulownia at the tip and tail to reduce swing-weight. K2 developed this technology specifically for women; lightweight and easy to manoeuvre, yet sturdy and offering high-performance. This has the Bioflex 3 core which is 80% Aspen and 20% Paulownia . This means increased performance, strength and durability.
Metal Laminte: K2 women’s metal laminate skis are built with a thinner strip of titanal than men’s skis. Proportional to lighter weight women skiers, the thinner layer offers overall weight reduction while still proving expert-level skiers the befits of performance and dampening, consistent with metal laminate construction.
Hybritech Sidewalls: Hybritech is a unique blend of sidewall and cap contractions. The construction combines the accuracy, power and performance of sidewall underfoot with the lightweight characteristics and smooth turn initiation of cap construction.
Progressive Sidecut: Progressive sidecut is a combination of two different radii, or sidecuts, that enhance the versatility of wider-waist skis. Standard sidecut theory is based on using a single radius. This works well on narrower skis, but becomes overpowering on wider skis, especially in variable conditions, The use of progressive sidecut on wider-waist skis guarantees improved turn initiation and hard-snow performance.
Mod Technology: high-Performance Suspension System Mod functions by absorbing vibrations and impact loads along the entire ski, providing stronger edge-hold and a higher degree of power and control. Mod is a secondary core that flexes and moves on top of the primary core, allowing the overall ski flex to be unaffected. The optimum location and thickness of mass differs from men to women. The aesthetic look of the Mod shape has also been customized with a svelte and more stylized appearance that graphically ties into the design of the skis.
Mod Monic: A Focused Mass Dampener; The Monic is a solid zinc mass that works in conjunction with the Mod structure to focus mass-dampening at the targeted location. Although the location for this targeted mass dampening is consistent between our men’s and Women’s models, the amount of focused mass is reduced in our women’s version. The women’s Mod Monic is designed to accent the overall look without sacrificing function.
All-terrain Rocker: Designed for all snow conditions, Features an elevated tip for added performance in variable or soft snow and easier turn initiation, as well as camber underfoot for power, energy and edge-hold in firm conditions.

Our Opinion:
This is the Replacement for the 2010 K2 Lotta Luv skis. But they have now revamped and redesigned this ski to make it even better in the soft snow, whilst still being aggressive and fun on-piste. The Progressive sidecut means for a wide ski it still has a great turning radius of only 14m on the 160cm model and with its Mod technology it can be skied hard and fast on-piste without any judder or vibration. A new ice cool design really compliments the unique technology that K2 has pumped into this ski and this has provided a ski that was a sure fire favourite with our women testers out in Italy. This ski just gets better and better.
Is this for me?:
Designed for good intermediate to expert skier who wants a great all mountain, go anywhere, do anything ski. This ski does excel in the powder, and would ideally suit those ladies who will be skiing inbounds, however will be actively looking for those powder runs.

Buying Skis
Step 1 - Which Type Of Ski?
The first step in buying your own skis, is to work out the type of skier you are and the skier you want to be.
Skis come in a variety of types. Here are the key ones:
Piste Skis - These are suited to skiing on piste, in good snow conditions. Some models use technology direct from the racing scene. Piste skis are great carving skis. Piste skis may struggle a little when skiing in less perfect conditions, and also if you wish to go off-piste.
All Mountain Skis (Or All Condition Skis) - These skis allow you to ski in a variety of snow conditions. So whether it is icy or slushy, an all-conditions ski will perform better than a piste ski. There is sometimes a loss of carving ability, but the modern all-conditions skis such as Volkl AC skis and Attiva women's skis have the latest technology to maintain carving ability.
Back Country Skis - These skis are for venturing out of bounds, hiking all over the mountain. They will remain versatile enough to ski the whole mountain, and also be lighter than normal to make it easier to carry them or travel uphill with them. Normally these are supplied without bindings, and you select an appropriate binding to suit your needs (See our Ski 101 section)
Off-Piste Skis (Or free ride, powder skis) - These skis are designed for skiing in powder and off-piste conditions. They will generally be wider to help with floating in the snow, and be a little more forgiving to give you more feel in powder and to absorb impacts from jumping/landing.
Which Length Of Ski Do I need?
You know the type of ski you want, you now know what each brand. Now you just need to work out the correct length.
This chart is to give you a rough indication of size. Height is not the main factor with modern carving skis; weight and ability are the two key things to consider. You can contact us any time for advice on ski lengths.
If you are between sizes, a shorter ski will give you shorter turns and a longer ski will be a little faster. If you are comparing to old non-carving skis you will see modern skis tend to be used in shorter lengths.
If you are buying a piste ski this chart should be accurate, if you are looking at an all-conditions ski, and again are between sizes, we suggest the lower of the two lengths. If you are a female skier, also choose the shorter length
