New for this year, the Carbon/carbon adjustable pole is a lightweight, high-performance pole that features a bubble vial inclinometer to guage slope angle, a snow depth ruler to measure various layers in the snowpack, and back-up probe. The LockJaw clamp has bomber hold and is easily adjusted with gloves on or off.
Developed exclusively by K2, Triax Technology is the controlled process of winding carbon fibers at a 60 degree angle around the outside of the shaft. The external TRIAX fibers reinforce and control the uni-directional fibers of the pole, to create a more durable/Stiff shaft. This allows poles built with Triax Technology to feature a thinner (14mm) shaft that is stiffer and lighter then any pole we have ever produced.

Ski poles can be a personal thing, but as a starting point or if you are buying your first set of ski poles this chart should be a great help. If you want to check the length is correct, we suggest holding the pole in your hands upside down with the basket resting on top of your clenched hand.
Generally if your arm is about parallel to the ground (you can allow a little for the height of your ski boots) then it is good. Poles can generally be cut down but adding length is not possible.

For skis this is 10am to allow us time to wax and pack your skis. Orders placed on Saturday or Sunday using priority shipping will be shipped on the following Monday. Our couriers and Royal Mail do NOT collect from us on Saturday or Sunday. For a Saturday delivery please contact us. Snowpulse bags, due to the nature of the gas cannister in this system, we cannot ship internationally at our standard pricing, as a dangerous goods agent is required to prepare the shipment. In these cases we will contact you with a revised cost before proceeding with the order.

As useful as ski poles are in ski queues and picking up dropped gloves, the main reason for ski poles is to help maintain rhythm and stability through turns on the mountain. A solid ‘pole plant’ is a fundamental element to creating beautiful arcs of varying shapes down the mountain. Correct pole use can also help in accelerating out of turns.
Pole materials – Why are there options?
An aluminium ski pole can be relatively low cost, so if you lose poles this may be a sound purchase! Higher quality alloy ski poles will have taper wall tubing, putting material where it is needed for strength and removing it where weight can be saved. Carbon Fibre can be used to create very technical ski poles, again focussing on strength where it is needed and lighter weight towards the tips, to encourage easier swinging of the poles between each pole plant. Carbon Fibre can also be optimised for flex so that the pole flexes and springs back giving you an extra bit of power when planting through your turns.
Which basket do I need?
A small solid basket is ideal for piste conditions, as it will mainly be used on firmer or prepared snow and won’t sink in when pushed into the surface. For powder skiing though these would simply sink, so a much larger basket is used with open venting to give the basket a greater surface area to stop it sinking into the snow. With the venting, powder passes through as the pole is raised from the snow, avoiding drag. There are also poles that have a hybrid of the two basket types for versatility.
Straps and Grips
Straps allow you to keep hold of the pole in the event of a fall, but some skiers and in particular off piste skiers won’t use straps to avoid wrist injuries if a tree or rock is clipped. A modern variant is Leki’s quick release system, where the grip integrates with a special glove or strap attached to the glove, and releases in the event of a heavy fall.
