The edge comprises of a base edge and side edge, both of which are of a specified angle. Here we remove any nicks and burrs (And rust!) and then move on to set and sharpen the edges.
Tools required for this part are a fine file, a base file guide, a side edge file guide, a gummi stone and a Sharpie permanent marker. A diamond file is also very useful for a better finish.

Its time to crack out the iron! We now perform a 'Hot Scrape' to clean the base and start to build structure. Then its the main coat of wax. This is followed by brushing to create further structure, unless the equipment is being stored for the summer.
Tools required for this part are a waxing iron (Please DON'T use a domestic iron if you value your equipment!), an appropriate ski wax, at minimum a nylon wax brush, and a Perspex wax scraper.

Just because the winter is over, it doesn't mean you can leave the skis or snowboard in the corner of the garage, or tucked away in their travel bags. If your equipment is not prepared for storage, and then stored correctly, you are running the risk of reducing the useful life of your equipment, and creating extra work before you depart for your next trip.
This guide shows you how to prepare your skis or snowboard for summer storage, and then some handy storage tips.
