FAQ's

1. Can I visit you in the evening after work?

Yes you can! We like to be flexible with our showroom appointments. Boot fitting can take at least two hours, and a full service of a snowboard or skis one hour, so if you wish to visit us early morning, late evening or at the weekend outside our normal hours, please just get in touch with us and we will book you in!

2. How do I get my skis and board to you for servicing?

We want to be as flexible as possible when you need to drop in your equipment. So we offer several ways of getting your equipment to us:

DROP OFF AND COLLECT
You can drop your equipment into us for servicing, and then we will contact you when it is ready for collection. Our normal turnaround is within 7 days, but we also do offer a while-you-wait service (We will even make you a brew!). For this do please call in advance so we can clear some workshop time to avoid any delays for you. We can also offer drop-ins out of hours, just give us a call to arrange in advance!

SKIS OUT-SKIS IN
If you live within 20 miles of our location, we can arrange to collect your skis or snowboards for servicing. We charge a flat additional fee of £5 for the Skis-Out-Skis-In service. We will collect at a convenient time (including evenings) and return your equipment to you ready for your next trip. To use this service contact us to make a collection booking.

COLLECTION & RETURN SERVICE
If you are a bit more distant from us but wish us to service your equipment, we can arrange for a courier to collect your equipment, and bring your board or skis safely to us. We will then service your equipment and return it by courier to your home or works address. This service is normally a one week turnaround. This service has an additional fee of £15 in addition to your ski or snowboard service charge, so for a full service of skis the price would be £40 and snowboards £45, which is still excellent value for money.

To arrange this you will need to package your skis or snowboard carefully. If you have a ski or board bag, this combined with some packaging would be ideal. Then contact us with at least 48 hours notice, and we will ask our courier to collect your equipment. We will inspect it, and email you with a confirmed price, and then the equipment will be services and returned, normally within 7 days, after being carefully repackaged.

4. What is the difference between an in-resort service and yours?? < name="4">

Many in-resort services are very, very good we should point out. However, from bitter experience many others are not.

By offering a personalised service we can we feel get the optimum performance from your equipment, even if edge angles and wax temperatures are of little interest to you. We check that the equipment is tuned to the factory specification, or the customers own personal requirements. We do this by asking questions.

We can ask these questions in a relaxed atmosphere (No hoards of people trying to hire skis!) and we can ask you in English, French, rusty German, Chinese or even sign language when Nikki is in the workshop!

We do all waxing by hand with an iron, we don't use waxing tables, they are fast but we feel that a traditional iron gives better wax penetration.

There is nothing better than arriving in resort and heading to the bar not the busy rental shop, safe in the knowledge that your skis or board are ready to go straight out of the bag.

5. Can you teach me how to service my own skis or board?

Yes we can! We offer a tuition service by appointment. For an individual, the price is a full service (If you have your equipment with you) and £75 to cover the additional 1-2 hours going through the process. We can also offer group tuitions for ski reps or ski holiday staff in a professional environment. Please contact us for a quotation.

6. What do I need to bring for a boot fitting?

For a boot fitting, if you already have some boots bring those, along with your ski or snowboard socks if you have some. As we want to give you a comfortable fit, two things will help - Carefully cut toenails, and also trousers with a baggy leg, as we will need to roll your legs up in order to give you the best fitting possible.

7. Can I send skis or a board to you for repair and servicing?

Yes you can, using our "Skis-Outs Skis-In" service. We use FedEx couriers to collect your board/skis, and then once we have put your service through the workshop return it on a next day service. There is a charge of £15.00 for collection & return. Turnaround in the workshop is about 1 week at most, and we can accommodate rush jobs if its needed sooner. If you wish to book just give us a call on 0800 756 6899 and we will take the collection address details and your payment details.

When sending, for boards please remove your bindings if possible (If they are on there we do have to charge £5.00 for removing them as we cannot store or service the board easily with them on. We suggest using your board or ski bag, with some packaging like bubble wrap (if not a sheet) around your skis/board. Then put a couple of black bags (the stronger the better) round your bag to give it a bit of extra protection. Pop our address on there on a label and the driver does the rest when he collects. We can collect from any address, normally between 9-5.
