Skis prepared
EDGE & WAX ATTENTION TO DETAIL WHEN SHIPPING AND PREPARING NEW SKIS When we sell a pair of skis at Edge & Wax, we want to ensure the skis are set up and ready for the mountain. Here is what we do when we receive an online order for skis or when you pop into our showroom to purchase your set of skis: STEP ONE - Set Up Information We send you an email requesting the following information so that we can set up your bindings (if applicable): Weight: We use your weight and height to ascertain your 'Skier Code' on the universal DIN chart used to set up bindings Height: As above Age: If you are a young skier or over the age of 50 we adjust the DIN setting to give a slightly easier release to protect knee joints and ligaments Ski Ability: For your ski ability we need to determine your skiing level, to do this you would look at the chart below and let us know where you feel you are at with your ski abilities: You would then let us know which number on the chart you are at. Level 1-4 is called a "Type I" skier, level 5-7 a "Type II" skier, and level 8-10 a "Type III" skier. If you are struggling with the email we have sent you, we offer a more detailed explanation on our New Ski Set Up Assistance page. STEP TWO – Workshop Waxing And Binding Set-up We prefer not to rely on the transit wax that many skis and snowboards are shipped with. We will use a waxing iron and wax give your new skis a thorough waxing with a high quality Holmenkol universal Wax. Once waxed, we will then install the bindings based on the information provided, and test the bindings with an equivalent ski boot to ensure correct set-up and release. This is a lengthy process but one we find our customers appreciate to ensure that your new purchase is in top condition and ready to perform. If you have any specific requirements for the preparation and/or shipping of skis please contact us on 01403 713 470.
